For Monday, Oct. 11, 2010

Today, it will be mostly cloudy with an increasing chance of rain and thunderstorms.
Winds will continue to be strong, from the N to NE: ranging in strength from 10 to
20 mph. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height. Both wind and seas can be higher
locally. The surface low 98L will dominate our weather at least through Wed.
Early this morning it was centered about 340 miles ESE of us.

It moved more north than west during the night. The NHC is now giving this system
a 50% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.
It currently has maximum winds of 25 mph. The central pressure is 1006 millibars.
It is moving WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

The NHC and the consensus of computer models are still predicting that this system
will reach us by Tuesday, possibly at tropical storm strength (35-60mph winds).
Expect weather conditions to deteriorate as this system approaches us.
This area of disturbed weather is elongated and continues moving in tandem with
a surface trough which now extends
from central Cuba to Cape Gracias Adios at the Honduras- Nicaragua border.
Another tropical wave will reach this area by Thursday.
All interests in the Bay Islands should monitor the progress of this system
for further development.
