The Tropical Weather Outlook
Hurricane Irene will cross the Bahamas as a Cat 2 hurricane. It could intensify into a major hurricane later today or tomorrow. Invest 98L is NW of the Cape Verde islands and now has a 0% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone. Invest 90L is SW of the Cape Verde islands and has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.
None of these systems currently pose a threat to us. However, since we are approaching the peak (Sept 10) of the hurricane season, all interests in the Bay Islands and on the north coast of Honduras should continue, to closely monitor the weather and prepare for future storms.
