Today,
skies will be partly cloudy. Winds will be ESE at 5 to 15 mph or
higher. Seas will be 1 to 4 feet. Intermittent showers and
thunderstorms are possible, today. Winds and seas maybe locally
higher near squalls. A large amount of moisture remains in the air
due to the tropical wave which passed over us yesterday.
The
air temperatures will be in the 80s to the mid 90s (F) or 27 to 32
(C). With the heat index, it will feel like 100 degrees plus. At
depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 86F or 28C to 30C .
Visibility is generally 60 to 80 feet.

The
Tropical Weather Outlook
This
morning, the large area of disturbed, poorly organized weather,
associated with a tropical wave is moving northward, into the
Southern Gulf of Mexico. The NHC is giving this system a 60% chance
of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.
Katia
is now a Cat 1 hurricane. It is located at 15.2 N latitude x 45.9 W
longitude. This position is approximately 2400 miles SSE of us. It is
moving W at 20 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 75mph. However,
until it gets well above 16N latitude, this system bears watching
closely.
It
currently does not pose a threat to us. However, since we are
approaching the peak (Sept 10) of the hurricane season, all interests
in the Bay Islands and on the north coast of Honduras should
continue, to monitor the weather and prepare for future storms.
