Today, skies will be mostly sunny with mid to high level clouds. Winds will be easterly at 5 to 20 mph. Seas will be 1 to 4 feet. The normal, daily, easterly trade winds are back in place. Look for the winds to decrease as the sun rises, then to start increasing about 3pm. Expect this current weather pattern to hold through next week.
The air temperatures will be in the 80s to the mid 90s (F) or 27 to 32 (C). With the heat index, it will feel like 100 degrees plus. At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 86F or 28C to 30C . Visibility is generally 60 to 80 feet.

The Tropical Weather Outlook
TD 13 has formed in the Gulf of Mexico from the tropic wave which passed over us on Wednesday.. The NHC is predicting it will go ashore this weekend, on the Southern Louisiana coast, as a tropical storm Lee. At 4am CDT, it was centered at 26.5N x 91.7W. This is about 240 miles SW of the mouth of the Mississippi river. It is moving NW at 2mph; with maximum sustained winds of 35mph. Its current motion is slow, and erratic. A turn to the North is forecast for tonight or Saturday.

Katia continues to vacillate between being a tropical storm and a Cat 1 hurricane. It is located at 17.0 N latitude x 51.8 W longitude. This position is approximately 2100 miles E of us. It is moving WNW at 15 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 70mph. However, until it gets well above 16N latitude, this system bears watching closely. It currently does not pose a threat to us.

However, since we are approaching the peak (Sept 10) of the hurricane season, all interests in the Bay Islands and on the north coast of Honduras should continue, to monitor the weather and prepare for future storms.
