Skies
will remain mostly cloudy, as the tropical wave over us, has stalled
and is essentially stationary. High pressure, to the north of us, in
the Gulf of Mexico, will keep this system in place for the next day
or so. There is a continuing chance for intermittent rain and
thunderstorms throughout the day. (See Fig 1)
Fig 1 - Tropical Wave Position, early am_110913 |
Winds will be light at 5 to 10
mph, or less and variable in direction. Seas will be calm at 1 to 2
feet. (See Fig 2)
The
air temperatures will be in the 80s to the mid 90s (F) or 27 to 32
(C). Because of the lack of wind, at times, it may feel like 100 plus
degrees. Everyone, especially, divers should be well hydrated.
At
depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 88F or 28C to 31C .
Visibility is generally 40 to 60 feet.

The
Tropical Weather Outlook
Maria
remains a tropical storm. This morning, TS
Maria
is headed for the Bahamas. It is traveling NW at 5 mph. Maximum
sustained winds are 50 mph.
All
interests in the Bay Islands and on the north coast of Honduras
should remain vigilant and continue, to monitor the weather. So far
this year, there have been 14 named storms. It is possible, given the
current overall weather conditions in the Tropical Atlantic, that
there maybe as many as 10 to 14 more named storms, before the
hurricane season officially ends on December 1st.
