The Tropical Weather Outlook

At 5am EDT, Irene was still a Cat 1 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 75mph. The center of Hurricane Irene was about 15 miles SSE of Atlantic City, NJ. It is moving NNE at 18mph.
TD 10 has dissipated into 1011 mb low. A new tropical system, designated 92L is located at 10.3 N latitude x 20.5 W longitude. This position is approximately 3900 miles SSE of us. It is moving due W at 10 mph. This system currently has a 30% chance for further development. Until it gets well above 16N latitude, this system bears watching closely.
None of these systems currently pose a threat to us. However, since we are approaching the peak (Sept 10) of the hurricane season, all interests in the Bay Islands and on the north coast of Honduras should continue, to monitor the weather and prepare for future storms.
